The Action App. Coming Soon.

Why did you decide to build the Action App? What inspired you?

My mission is to end the use of carbon based fuel. I believe that this is the key to reversing Climate Change. I have a non-profit, Blue Planet Alliance, working on this.

I attend Climate Change conferences. Someone in the audience suggests that we gamify fixing this. All eyes turn to me. I’m a Game Designer. It’s really hard to get someone to play a game. It’s even more difficult if you expect a player to learn something and change his/her behavior.

I give keynote speeches. After I speak, people come up to me and ask “What can I do?” I answer “I don’t know what you can do. You have to figure out what you can do, and do that.” I realized that I haven’t actually helped them figure it out.

So I decided to create an app that would Gamify fixing everything as well as help users figure out what they can do and what they want to do. The result is the Action App.

The Action App gives users good things to do and it figures out their area of interest. If enough people took small actions, things would change for the better.

Who are you working with?

While the original vision and design of the Action App came from me, bringing that vision to life has been a collaborative effort.

A key partner in this journey is Kelly Ruigrok, Matthew de Haan and their team at GSES (Global Sustainable Enterprise System), a Dutch organization that specializes in measuring and verifying sustainability impact. Together, we've transformed the original concept into a scalable platform that combines technology, transparency and measurable impact.

The collaboration between Blue Planet Alliance and GSES ensures that the app is built on trusted sustainability data while remaining accessible and easy to use for people around the world. Together, we're creating a platform that empowers citizens, organizations and governments to work toward the Sustainable Development Goals.

What is your goal for the app?

Our goal is simple but ambitious: to make sustainable action easy, measurable and rewarding.

The Action App helps people understand which actions have the greatest positive impact on the planet and on society. By connecting personal actions to global goals, we want to create a movement where everyone can contribute to solving the world's biggest challenges.

Ultimately, success isn't measured by downloads, but by real-world impact—millions of actions that collectively reduce emissions, improve communities and accelerate progress toward a sustainable future.

Who is the app for?

The Action App is designed for everyone.

Whether you're an individual looking to live more sustainably, a business wanting to engage employees, a school educating students, a city encouraging community action, a sport/music venue trying to become more green, or an NGO looking to activate their members, the platform provides personalized actions that fit your situation.

The goal is to make sustainability practical rather than complicated, regardless of where you live or your level of experience.

Any updates? When will it be available?

We are in final testing/debugging now. It will be available as soon as we have finished testing.
