He has a very clear vision of a great future that includes fixing climate change and interplanetary settlement and is not afraid to share it.

He is the proud father of four (two girls and two boys) who have gone on to form their own families.

He has 9 grandchildren and has a great relationship with all of them. They call him Opa.

He designed the first Role Playing Game in Japan and made major contributions to the design of Tetris and many other games he published.

He has a long list of companies he has started: Bullet-Proof Software, AnimaTek, Blue Planet Software, The Tetris Company, Blue Lava Wireless, I love Photos, Avatar Reality, Blue Planet Research, Blue Planet Energy, Blue Planet Foundation, The International MoonBase Alliance and the Blue Planet Alliance.

He put Hawaii on track to achieve 100% renewable energy. 15 other states have followed suit. Now he’s working ending the use of carbon based fuel for the rest of the planet.

He is a regular keynote speaker at conferences around the world including two University commencements.

He has taken part in many sports: skateboarding, baseball, ice hockey, soccer, gymnastics, table tennis, surfing, sailing, cycling,  judo, shorinji kempo, golf, tennis, racquetball, squash, and of course, pickleball.

He has always been an avid gamer, starting with board games like Monopoly, Dungeons and Dragons, and Settlers of Catan. He of course plays all kinds of computer games. He is a 3 Dan (3rd degree black belt) in Go.

He has travelled to over 70 countries and lived in 4. He has been as far south as Antarctica and as far north as Svalbard and visited places as remote as Rapa Nui (Easter Island).

He has taken part in Burning Man 14 times.

He has passion for photography. His photos focus mainly on exotic places and wildlife.

He loves to go places without a plan and enjoy the adventure of finding his way around and meeting strangers.

He has had many long partnerships with people both in business and private life. His partnership with Alexey Pajitnov has lasted well over 30 years.

He is the oldest brother in an extended family of 15 siblings. He keeps in regular contact with all of them.

He created two very successful computer game publishing companies: Bullet-Proof Software and Blue Lava Wireless.

He has been a carpenter and still works on projects for Burning Man every year.

He spent a number of years sailing a 17’ Hobiecat (a catamaran) and sailed twice as crew member of the Polynesian Voyaging Canoe, Hokule’a.
